Project consists of raising 8 miles of levees along the left and right banks of the Diversion Channel 3-5 feet. Approxiamately 260,000 cubic yards of earthwork will be required. The existing concrete Diversion Dam will be modified by raising a 3.5' concrete wall, extending 10 slide gates and installing a 3.5' high sheetpile floodwall in the left and right abutements. Existing 16 drainage structures will be removed and replaced with new inlet and outlet structures, gatewells with slide gates, flap gates, piping and riprap slope protection. Approximately 15,000 feet of 10' wide 4" thick asphalt trail with base course will be removed and replaced. Approximately 18 ramps and 8 turnouts will be constructed requiring 30,000 cubic yards of earthwork. The levee will be surfaced with crushed rock surfacing 4" thick 10 feet wide for 25,000 feet. A riprap fuse plug located along the landside of the levee from 60th Street south 600 feet will be salvaged and removed.
