Recovery Act - Exercise of Option 2 for Construction Services for the Infrastructure Upgrade of the Thurgood Marshall U.S. Courthouse

The General Services Administration (GSA) Northeast Caribbean Region is organizing a Small Business Networking Session on February 22, 2006, for the Infrastructure Upgrade project of the Thurgood Marshall U.S. Courthouse in New York City. This session aims to provide small businesses—including Small, Small-Disadvantaged, Women-Owned Small, HUBZone Small, Veteran-Owned Small, and Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small business concerns—an opportunity to learn about the project, network, and engage with the two general contractors currently in the selection process. Large business subcontractors expected to bid on work exceeding $1 million at the first-tier level will be required to subcontract portions of the work to small businesses and are also encouraged to attend. The award of the contract to one general contractor is anticipated by July 2006. The project involves extensive infrastructure upgrades and renovations including fire protection system enhancements, electrical power distribution and lighting upgrades, complete replacement of the emergency power and HVAC systems, substantial domestic water and sanitary piping replacement, freight elevator extension, modernization of public restrooms for ADA compliance, new fiber optic telephone and data systems, security screening enhancements, comprehensive roof and masonry repairs, hazardous materials removal, and interior space restoration using historically appropriate materials. Additional upgrades include building management systems, loading dock expansions, and mailroom alterations.
