AI Contract Overview
The Department of Veterans Affairs, specifically the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital via the Great Lakes Acquisition Center, has awarded a firm fixed price construction contract to Pro Fire and Water Restoration Company. The project, valued at 241,196.7 dollars, involves emergency repairs to sterile processing decontamination and prep workspaces following a wastewater piping failure. Scope of work includes replacing ceiling tiles, upgrading fluorescent lighting to LED, and installing approximately 70 feet of cast iron piping. Due to unusual and compelling urgency to prevent further damage and maintain veteran care, the contract was initially sole-sourced to a woman-owned small business with a performance period of 180 calendar days. While the current award was expedited, the opportunity is predicted to be a full recompete with a potential end date of April 1, 2026. Future competition is expected to be full and open after the exclusion of certain sources.
