In this role, he manages the full lifecycle of complex procurements supporting classified intelligence operations, with a focus on technical services that enable real-time data exploitation, systems analysis, and mission-critical infrastructure. His portfolio centers on high-demand domains including custom software development, advanced systems design, and engineering research, ensuring timely delivery of capabilities essential to national intelligence missions. Mayfield works closely with technical stakeholders to translate mission requirements into compliant, risk-managed contract actions aligned with FAR and DFARS regulations. Mayfield cultivates strategic relationships with a diverse array of contractors specializing in defense-grade technical services, including firms with expertise in secure software development, semiconductor fabrication, and systems integration. His contracting approach emphasizes performance-based outcomes, rigorous source selection, and post-award oversight to ensure technical fidelity and mission readiness. His procurement patterns reflect a strong preference for open competition, with 100% of his acquisitions designated as non-set-aside, indicating a focus on technical merit and capability over socioeconomic preferences. This approach prioritizes mission-critical performance and access to the broadest possible pool of qualified technical providers, particularly those with deep domain expertise in intelligence support functions.
