MARAD Ship Model Repair

The Maritime Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded contract DTMA-91-Q-2012-0018 to Architectural Preservation Services for the conservation and repair of ship models located at the MARAD Headquarters in Washington, DC. The project involves the assessment and restoration of 79 ship models, with a total estimated insurance value of 333,325.00 dollars. The scope of work is structured into three distinct phases: initial condition reporting and conservation planning, the execution of repair and conservation efforts, and the fabrication of museum-quality bases and display cases. All conservation work is required to be performed off-site, with a total performance period of 365 days from the date of award. The contract was established as a best-value award based on technical capability and price, utilizing a firm-fixed-price structure with quarterly progress payments. The procurement process included a pre-award site visit and the provision of detailed object reports and insurance valuations to ensure accurate bidding and risk management.
