The Naval Sea Systems Command plans to issue a sole-source Request for Proposal to Raytheon Company for the fiscal year 2004 requirements of the STANDARD Missile (SM-2) program, including both U.S. and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) demands. Raytheon will be responsible for procuring, manufacturing, assembling, testing, and delivering approximately 75 SM-2 BLOCK IIIB missiles for U.S. use and around 375 SM-2 BLOCK IIIA/IIB missiles for FMS. The procurement will also involve sub-components historically provided as Government Furnished Equipment, such as warheads, rocket motors, fuze boosters, and safety devices. In addition to the missiles, the contract requires the production of roughly 80 SM-2 BLOCK IIIB ORDALT kits and Service Life Extension Program hardware, as well as about 100 AN/DKT-71A Telemetric Data Transmitting Sets (TDTS) with installation kits for U.S. needs. For FMS, an estimated 156 TDTS and installation kits, and 638 shipping containers for the SM-2 BLOCK IIIA/IIIB missiles will be included. The contract also calls for associated spare parts and data to support both U.S. and FMS requirements. Raytheon is recognized as the sole capable prime contractor for this program, and companies interested in subcontracting opportunities must contact Raytheon directly.
