16 --TAMMAC DIGITAL MAP COMPUTER DMC/DVMC

The Naval Air Systems Command, Air Combat Electronics Program Office, PMA-209, intends to issue a contract modification to contract N00019-05-C-0044 to exercise options under the sole-source contract with Harris Corporation, Government Communication Systems Division, Melbourne, FL. The proposed modification provides for the procurement and installation of theTactical Aircraft Moving Map Capability (TAMMAC) Digital Map Computers (DMCs) and Digital Video Map Computers (DVMCs) as well as extension housings for these units. The TAMMAC program intends to procure approximate quantities of the following: Digital Map Computers (DMCs), 102 each; Digital Video Map Computers (DVMCs), 84 each; DMC extension housings, 160 each; and DVMC extension housings, 160 each. In addition, the acquisition will include engineering investigations and studies involving the TAMMAC system. This acquisition is being pursued on a sole source basis under the statutory authority 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Harris Corporation is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the TAMMAC DMC and DVMC, and is the only known source with the necessary knowledge, data, equipment and experience to fulfill the government technical and schedule requirement for installation of these units in F/A-18 C/D and F/A 18 E/F, AH-1Z, UH-1Y, and AV-8B. Please be aware that the Government is not budgeted and has no intention of providing any funding to develop or qualify any product(s) in connection with this effort. Deliveries are required to be FOB Destination to the aircraft manufacturer, and are scheduled to commence January 2007. Award of this contract modification is expected to be on or before December 15, 2005.
