Full Description

The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) intends to issue a sole source contract to Northrop Grumman Corporation, Los Angeles CA, for the repair of the Advanced SEAL Delivery System (ASDS-1) as a result of a fire that the vehicle sustained in Nov 08. The contract will be for the procurement of Long Lead Time Material, including consumables and spare parts and performance of the Repair Availability. Repair activities include engineering support, engineering, manufacturing, and technician labor, integration of the repaired section of the vehicle with the undamaged portion of the vehicle, and recertification of ASDS-1 for manned operations, as well as program management responsibilities. The period of performance for this contract will be for 36 months from contract award. This contract will be awarded pursuant to 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c) (1). Northrop Grumman Corporation is the only known company which currently possesses the in-depth technical knowledge of the ASDS equipm! ent required to perform the work contemplated herein. No other source has the technical qualifications and necessary resources to perform the work described herein in the time frame required to meet the Navy's operational needs, nor will any other supplies or services satisfy the Navy's requirements.
