20--DOPPLER SONAR VELOCITY LOG (DSVL) SYSTEMS

The Naval Sea Systems Command plans to award a sole source contract modification to Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation; Sperry Marine for the procurement of three Full Rate Production Doppler Sonar Velocity Log (DSVL) Systems configured for SSN 776, LHD 8, and SSN 777 platforms. The contract also includes two On Board Repair Parts (OBRP) Spares Kits for the SSN 776 and SSN 777, one Installation and Checkout (INCO) Spares Kit for the LHD 8, and up to 500 man-hours of technical and test program support. Sperry Marine, as the original designer and sole producer of the current WQN-2 DSVL System, is uniquely qualified to meet the delivery schedule required for these surface and subsurface vessels undergoing upgrades. This acquisition underscores the Navy’s reliance on Sperry Marine’s specialized expertise and proprietary technology in Doppler sonar systems, ensuring continuity in maintenance, installation, and operational support. The sole source nature of the contract reflects the vendor’s exclusive capability to supply the critical systems and support necessary to maintain the operational readiness of the specified naval platforms.
