2023 Storm Damaged Embankment System and Roadway Shoulder Repair: County Road 490 - Brandy City Road - 1 Location, Project No. 757

The proposed project involves the repair of a storm-damaged segment of County Road 490 (Brandy City Road) through roadway realignment and slope stabilization measures. Specifically, the project would include construction of a roadway retreat into the uphill slope, requiring excavation and removal of vegetation, including trees, to accommodate the new road alignment. To address instability on the downhill side, the project would include stabilization of the road sub-grade and underlying rock mass using rock anchors, tiebacks, or similar structural support systems. The project area encompasses approximately 2.89 acres and includes both the storm drainage repair area and a construction equipment staging area. The repair area is approximately 1.91 acres and is located within Sierra County right-of-way on Assessor’s Parcel Number (APN) 004-060-001, where all construction activities would occur. The staging area occupies approximately 0.98 acres in an existing cleared area off Brandy City Road, located northwest of the repair area on U.S. Forest Service (USFS) land (APN 004-040- 008). This area would be used solely for equipment staging; no ground disturbance or construction would take place on this parcel. Please see Attachment A for project figures.
