2025 Pavement Rehabilitation Project

The City of Eureka is initiating the 2025 Pavement Rehabilitation Project to improve vehicle and pedestrian travel paths across five specific locations: Fairfield Street, F Street, Henderson Street, McCullens Avenue, and Buhne Street. The primary objective is to repair damaged roadways and establish ADA accessible pedestrian pathways to enhance overall safety. The scope of work includes standard improvements at all sites, such as replacing striping, adding truncated domes, and raising valves, manholes, and survey monuments to grade. Depending on site needs, additional work may include replacing failed asphalt sections, applying new asphalt overlays, replacing traffic detector loops, and installing new curbs, sidewalks, and curb ramps. The project is scheduled to run from October 2025 through March 2026. The contractor is required to implement a City-approved Erosion Control Plan using Best Management Protocols to prevent offsite environmental impacts. Additionally, the contractor must ensure daily site cleanup for public safety and transport all project spoils to a City-approved permitted location. This project is classified as a Class I categorical exemption under CEQA as it involves repair and maintenance without expanding roadway capacity.
