2026 LRA - Fussell Road Resurfacing Project

The Lee County Board of Commissioners is soliciting sealed bids for the 2026 LRA Fussell Road Resurfacing Project, covering the section of Fussell Road from U.S. 82 to Palmyra Road. The scope of work includes patching as directed by the engineer, widening the road by milling a minimum of 9 inches into the existing asphalt edge, leveling with 100 lbs/sy of OGI, and applying a 165 lbs/sy 12.5 mm asphalt overlay. Additional requirements include thermoplastic traffic striping, rumble strips, stop bars, and shoulder grading. All work must adhere to the 2013 Georgia Department of Transportation Standard Specifications, the latest edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, and the Erosion and Sedimentation Control Act of 1975. Qualified bidders must be GDOT certified and attend a mandatory pre-bid meeting on October 6, 2026. Sealed bids are due by 10:00 am on October 20, 2026, and must include a bid bond for 10 percent of the bid amount, a non-collusion oath, and an E-Verify affidavit. The successful contractor must complete all work within 60 days of the notice to proceed, with a start date within 90 calendar days of notification. Failure to meet the completion deadline will result in liquidated damages of 300 dollars per day. Post-award requirements include providing performance and payment bonds for the full bid amount, as well as proof of general liability and automobile liability insurance of at least 1 million dollars each and workers compensation insurance as required by Georgia law.
