AI Contract Overview

This contract involves the procurement of compressor rotors for F100 engines, identified by part number 4088768-01 and NSN 2840-01-579-7372NZ. The government requires a quantity range of one to eight units, with a delivery schedule of two rotors per month beginning July 31, 2012. Due to the government not owning the necessary data rights and the specialized nature of the components, Pratt and Whitney is currently identified as the sole qualified source. The solicitation is being conducted via an electronic procedure and is not treated as a commercial item acquisition. While the government intends to negotiate with a limited number of sources, interested parties were given a window to demonstrate their capability to satisfy the requirement. An Ombudsman has been appointed to handle contractor concerns during the proposal phase, and the acquisition involves technology with military or space applications, meaning foreign participation is subject to further determination.
