The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD) intends to conduct a limited sources competition for the award of one (1) firm-fixed price contract for the purchase of a laboratory sized, adaptively controlled, robotic welding system currently being developed for the OHIO Replacement Class Submarine Program (OR). NSWCCD intends to solicit only two sources, NAVUS Automation, Inc., Knoxville, TN and Wolf Robotics, Fort Collins, Co., under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(ii). NAVUS and Wolf are the only sources who have the requisite technical knowledge and have been involved with the development of this system. In order to leverage current development time and costs, it is imperative that competition for this contract be limited to those sources currently participating in the unit’s development. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purposes of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Interested parties may forward capabilities statements to the point of contact no later than 5 Aug 2011.
