Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee plans to award a sole source purchase order to Trane Service Center for specialized repairs to a Trane Model CVHF 1280 Centrifugal Chiller. The work includes replacing the motor rotor, thrust and journal bearings, machining or replacing compressor impellers, repairing the motor shaft, replacing gaskets and seals, and verifying operating parameters according to original specs. Because the motor is a proprietary Trane product designed specifically for this chiller model, replacement parts must come from Trane, making Trane Service Center the only source capable of performing these repairs. Although this is not a formal request for competitive proposals, the base invites any interested parties who believe they can meet these requirements to submit detailed technical and pricing information in writing by November 29, 2006. Responses will be reviewed solely to determine whether a competitive procurement is warranted, but the final decision to proceed with a sole source contract lies entirely with the Air Force. If no qualifying responses are received by the deadline, the sole source contract will proceed with Trane Service Center. Alan N. Fudge is the point of contact for submissions and inquiries.
