The contract pertains to a Request for Information (RFI) for the Joint Precision Approach and Landing System (JPALS), issued by the Naval Air Systems Command under the Department of Defense. This RFI serves as a follow-up to a previous solicitation issued in April 2004, aiming to gather industry feedback and suggestions on the JPALS program, which is focused on developing precision navigation and landing technologies. While this RFI is strictly for planning and informational purposes and does not constitute a request for proposal or guarantee any commitment from the government, it encourages interested parties to review early draft technical specifications and related documents that are available on the JPALS website. The government emphasizes that responses to this RFI will not be compensated and no claims can be made based on submissions. Key procedural details include an extended response deadline of May 18, 2004, and an invitation for industry participation in an upcoming JPALS Industry Day scheduled around July 21, 2004, in Lexington Park, Maryland. The contact points for submitting responses and further inquiries are John Antol and Kenneth Harmon, both affiliated with the Naval Air Systems Command. The solicitation is associated with NAICS code 334511, indicating its classification under navigational and guidance instruments manufacturing. The office responsible for this RFI is located in Patuxent River, Maryland. The process remains in the informational collection phase as JPALS technical specifications continue to develop.
