The contract involves implementing a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system using passive injectable transponder (PIT) tags to study the movement patterns of Rio Grande silvery minnows. Key tasks include evaluating the project site to design an optimal RFID antenna setup, collaborating with the City of Albuquerque officials to finalize antenna placement within a fish passage channel, and assembling and configuring the antennas. These efforts aim to facilitate detailed fish movement studies, which will inform the use and effectiveness of constructed fish passage facilities at San Acacia and other diversion dams. Issued by the Department of the Interior through the Denver Federal Center, this sole source intent to award contract was posted in July 2006. The project is focused on enhancing ecological research capabilities related to fish behavior and habitat utilization by leveraging RFID technology, thereby supporting conservation and environmental management initiatives.
