Full Description

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD), Acoustic Research Detachment maintains the Navy's Large Scale Vehicle 2 (LSV2) which is used to provide Navy submarine design engineers a platform to test advanced submarine technologies. NSWCCD intends to negotiate a non-competitive procurement with the Lockheed Martin Corporation for the purchase of one (1) LN-l00 Inertial Navigation Unit (1NU) under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), Only one responsible source and no other supplier of services will satisfy agency requirements. The unit is needed as a operational spare on board the LSV2. Lockheed Martin is the developer of the Guidance, Navigation and Control Systems (GNCS) on board LSV2. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all responsible sources submitting proposals within 15 days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Anticipated award date is on or around 9/30/06. Interested parties may forward capabilities statements to the point of contact no later than 9/29/06.
