The contract involves a sole source firm-fixed price agreement with RBI-USA, located in Pinehurst, NC, for the procurement of high-intensity retro-reflective runway identification markers. Specifically, the government plans to purchase 38 units of the model 336W (white) and 16 units of the model 336T (red/green) markers, which are designed for runway use with 500-foot spacing. These markers comply with all aviation authority requirements, featuring pylons made from molded polyethylene and a rigid aluminum outer sheath. They are approximately 31 inches in height and 24 inches in base diameter, and their installation includes ballast filled with sand or gravel and the use of four anchor pins. The markers are weatherproof, capable of withstanding ice, snow, rain, wind loads up to 125 mph, and are resistant to salt air and water. This procurement is designated as a Small Business Set-Aside under SIC 3648 and NAICS code 3344 with a size standard of 750 employees. The contract award date is anticipated around August 3, 2007. The designated government point of contact is Linda Murphy, Contract Specialist, who can be reached via phone, fax, or email for further information. This contract does not solicit proposals since it is a sole source requirement, and the acquisition clearly emphasizes the specific technical specifications and durability needed for the runway markers to meet rigorous operational and environmental conditions.
