Phila Office, FISC Norfolk Contracts Dept intends to purchase Aptima Medical Test Kits #301032, 301048, 301041 and 301040 from Gen-Probe, Inc. of San Diego, CA on a sole source basis pursuant to FAR 6.302-1. Gen-Probe, Inc. is the sole manufacturer of these test kits, which are the only kits compatible with the automated Aptima System testing equipment used by the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. FAR Part 12 Commercial Items procedures are being used for this acquisition. Award of a firm-fixed price contract for the period of April 1, 2008 through Sep 30, 2008 plus 4 one-year options is anticipated. Any firm interested in this requirement should submit a technical capability statement to the above organization within 5 days of this announcement.
