The United States Air Force plans to award a sole source contract to Fujifilm Medical Systems located in Stamford, Connecticut, for the hardware and software refresh of 13 Imaging Integration Processors (IIPs) along with one application day. This procurement is scheduled for award around March 10, 2008. The decision to limit competition is based on the proprietary nature of the new software and hardware, as they are compatible only with existing Fujifilm CR readers and are not licensed to any other vendors. This notice serves solely to inform interested parties and gather information to determine whether a competitive process is warranted, rather than soliciting bids or proposals. The contract falls under NAICS code 423450 and is managed by the Department of Defense office at JBSA Lackland, Texas, specifically the 502 Cons Cl unit. The contracting officer for this acquisition is Susan R Arnold, who can be contacted for further inquiries. The acquisition focuses on upgrading Fujifilm Medical Systems’ existing equipment, emphasizing the unique licensing arrangement that restricts other vendors from providing similar hardware/software, justifying the sole source approach.
