The contract will include option years and is executed under the authority permitting other than full and open competition, based on the determination that Cook Medical LLC is the only source able to meet the specific requirements. The procurement targets various specialized medical products, including Tornado coils, Nester coils, Retracta coils, IVC filter retrieval kits, Zilver and Zilver PTX stents, CXI catheters, and Gunther Tulip IVC filters. These items are needed on a consignment basis to support the VA’s medical care infrastructure. This action is classified under NAICS code 339113, with a business size standard of 750 employees, and represents a public notification rather than a solicitation for competitive proposals. While other vendors could provide input, the government has expressed a preliminary position that Cook Medical is uniquely qualified. Parties interested in demonstrating their capabilities had until September 3, 2019, to submit supporting evidence to the contracting office, with final discretion resting with the government regarding competition. Communication regarding the contract is conducted exclusively via email, and no solicitation documents were issued at the time of this notice.
