65--Justification and Approval IAW FAR 6.305--VISX Laser Cards Evans Army Community Hospital

The U.S. Army Medical Command’s Western Regional Contracting Office plans to award a sole source contract valued at $914,745 to Abbott Medical Optics Sales and Service, Inc. for the procurement of both custom and standard key cards designed specifically for the VISX Star S4 IR Excimer Laser System. The contract will cover a base period plus two option years, supporting operations at Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, Colorado. Abbott Medical Optics holds proprietary rights to all associated software and hardware for these key cards and is the sole authorized manufacturer and distributor, making them the only supplier capable of providing these essential components compatible with the government-owned ophthalmology laser system. This acquisition will be executed under Simplified Acquisition Procedures according to FAR Part 13. Although this notice does not constitute a solicitation or request for proposal, other firms that believe they can supply comparable products may submit supporting documentation within three calendar days of the notice’s publication for consideration in future procurements.
