The VA Great Lakes Acquisition Center intends to enter into a sole source contract with Metro Medical, Inc. of St. Louis, Missouri, for a Forum Software Upgrade at the Adam Benjamin Jr CBOC in Crown Point, Indiana. This specific Zeiss Forum Software is required because it is the only product capable of organizing, viewing, and manipulating ophthalmic diagnostic images and data remotely across clinic PCs rather than being limited to the instruments themselves. The procurement is being conducted under FAR 6.302-1, as no other supplies or services are deemed capable of satisfying the agency's requirements. While this notice is not a request for competitive proposals, interested firms wishing to challenge the sole source determination were required to submit detailed evidence of their ability to meet the requirements to the Contracting Officer by August 4, 2011. The government maintains full discretion over whether to compete the procurement based on any received responses. If no viable alternatives were presented, the GLAC will proceed with negotiations exclusively with Metro Medical, Inc.
