The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 7, plans to negotiate a sole-source contract with CareFusion, Inc. to supply Pyxis MedStations and associated monthly support services for the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center. The contract includes one 3500 Profile 6 Drawer Medstation with additional drawers and BioID features, three 2500 2 Drawer Medstations with BioID, one 3500 7 Drawer Auxiliary Medstation with cubie drawers, and twelve months of support services. Pyxis MedStations are already in use at the facility, and due to proprietary software compatibility, the new equipment must be the same brand to ensure integration with the existing system used for medication tracking, theft prevention, and audits. This procurement falls under NAICS Code 423450 and is justified as a sole-source acquisition pursuant to FAR 6.302-1(b)(1)(i), as no other products or services meet the agency’s requirements. Interested parties are invited to express their interest by September 19, 2012, but this is not a request for competitive quotes. The government retains the discretion to determine whether to proceed without competition based on the responses received. The contract specialist point of contact for this procurement is Whitney Warrington.
