The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System plans to negotiate exclusively with Cardinal Health for the procurement of specialized hand-held laparoscopic instruments, including graspers, retractors, forceps, and Diamond-jaw needle holders. These instruments are uniquely designed in an "In-Line" format with a small profile to enhance surgeon comfort during lengthy procedures and improve tissue manipulation. The needle holders are distinguished by their tungsten carbide Diamond-jaw inserts, which provide a firm grip on large needles, minimizing slippage and rotation. This procurement aligns with directives from the Central Office and JCAHO to maintain a second set of instruments as backups, emphasizing the critical nature of equipment reliability. This contract opportunity is issued as a sources sought notice, not a solicitation, seeking information to determine whether a competitive procurement is appropriate. Interested parties may submit their expressions of interest along with relevant supporting literature by a specified deadline, but no telephone inquiries will be entertained. The contracting officer holds sole discretion over proceeding with a competitive procurement based on the responses received. The acquisition falls under NAICS code 423450 and is managed by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contract Office 4, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
