The contract involves a sole source procurement awarded to Kinetic Concepts, Inc. (KCI) by the Department of Veterans' Affairs VISN 9 Network Contracting Activity for the rental of KCI Wound V.A.C. systems at the Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC) in Memphis, Tennessee. This award, dated June 10, 2011, covers a period from June 14, 2011, to September 30, 2011, and addresses the urgent need to continue negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) treatments without disruption. The sole source award is based on FAR Part 6.302-2 due to unusual and compelling urgency, as interruption of this service would negatively affect patient care. The contract ensures the continuation of wound vacuum systems rental until a full and open competitive solicitation can be issued for a new contract starting October 1, 2011. This short-term contract is essential because the VAMC Memphis cannot obligate funds from the current fiscal year to the upcoming base year plus four option years contract, which will be competitively awarded through GSA/FAA. The planned competitive contract will cover one base year and four option years, subject to funding availability. The procurement falls under NAICS code 423450, corresponding to medical, dental, and hospital equipment supplies, with a size standard of 100 employees. This notice is a limited source procurement and is not a request for proposals or competitive quotes. Communication related to the contract can be directed to the contracting specialist, Christina B. Jackson, at the VISN 9 Network Contracting Activity in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
