Extension of Sources Sought


This market research notice is being conducted by Network Contracting Office (NCO) 17- VA South Texas (VASTHCS) facilities. The VA North Texas Health Care System (VANTHCS) has a requirement to purchase two E14CL4B Biplane Endocavity Transducers with an authorized vendor to supply and deliver the item(s) identified in Table 1 below. Currently Urology Surgical Service has no working Biplane transducers. Due to the critical diagnoses for cancer and the increase of population to provide care for, additional transducers and probes are mandatory. Salient Characteristics – E14CL4B Biplane Endocavity Transducer (Brand Name or Equal)


1. Clinical Applications


• Must support Transrectal, Transvaginal, and Urology applications.


2. Frequency & Acoustic Performance


• Frequency range must be 14–4 MHz.
• Focal range must be 3–60 mm.


3. Imaging Modes Required


The transducer must provide all of the following modes:
• B‑Mode
• M‑Mode
• PWD (Pulsed Wave Doppler)
• CFM (Color Flow Mapping), including Color Doppler & Power Doppler
• THI (Tissue Harmonic Imaging)
• CEUS (Contrast‑Enhanced Ultrasound)
• Strain Elastography
• Combination imaging modes


4. Biplane Imaging Requirements


• Must include two arrays (curved array for transverse imaging and linear array for sagittal imaging).
• Must support simultaneous biplane imaging, enabling visualization of two planes at once for needle guidance during biopsy/puncture procedures.


5. Image Field / Sector Requirements


• Transverse sector: 138°
• Expanded sector: 178°
• Sagittal field: trapezoidal, 65 mm wide, plus 2 × 15° expansion


6. Physical / Ergonomic Features


• Must include variable stiffness shaft to improve patient comfort and instrument maneuverability.
• Weight must be approx. 250 g.
• Must include Smart Button™ functionality to activate, freeze, store, and print images with a single press.


7. Sterilization & Reprocessing Requirements


• Must be fully immersible for sterilization.
• Must be compatible with UA2507 stainless steel reprocessing tray (or equal).


8. Compatible Ultrasound Systems


Equivalent products must be compatible with the following or provide equal system interoperability:
• bkActiv, bkSpecto, bk3000, bk5000, bkActiv S Series
