The National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) plans to negotiate exclusively with Sutron Corporation for the procurement of 16 SL2-B40W-1 SATLINK II HDR GOES transmitters, each equipped with a 40-watt amplifier. This acquisition addresses the need to upgrade buoy oceanographic sensors that now generate data requiring higher data rate transmitters, as the existing low data rate GOES transmitters are no longer sufficient. The NDBC's current meteorological data loggers are compatible with Sutron's Satlink II transmitter software and will seamlessly operate with the new high data rate 40-watt transmitters without the need for additional payload firmware modifications. This procurement, identified under solicitation number NWWG9502-7-11357, falls within NAICS code 334519 and is managed by the Department of Commerce's NOAA office operating out of Kansas City, Missouri. The contract is specifically targeted to meet the technical requirements of the NDBC’s data collection and transmission needs. The point of contact for this contract is Kurt L. Weilbaecher, who can be reached via email or phone for further inquiries. This acquisition ensures enhanced data transmission capabilities crucial for ongoing and future oceanographic and meteorological monitoring operations.
