The packages include a laser with intensity modulation capability and easily adjustable fiber couplers. To this system, a MM fiber (with 50?m-200?m core diameter) of our choice can be easily attached. The power should be controlled by software and they should have built-in online power stability feedback, the beam is smaller (which makes coupling more efficient), they are fully sealed against contamination. All packages should offer full control over the pulse generation, perfect pulse-to-pulse stability, high extinction ratio and fiber coupling efficiencies of >80%. These laser packages require easy integration into optogenetics research set-ups and offer a very high degree of system flexibility. These components need to be compatible with in vivo optogenetic recording equipments and able to connect to commutators/rotary joints and electronic equipments used for electrophysiological recording of sleep and other parameters. Should be able to perform photostimulation of brain regions and facilitates electrophysiological recording in freely behaving animals (rats and mice). Salient Characteristics " The equipment requires experiment-ready solutions for channel rhodopsin activation using 473nm laser light and inhibition using 532nm and 594nm laser light. " 1) The Modulated Laser Diode 473nm 100mW includes laser head, CDRH control box, USB cable and PSU; Fiber coupling mount Fiber collim- S+K FC/PC-AT 370-600nm, collimator Schafter+Kirchoff MM mounting adaptor with integrated attenuator, collimator, and FC/PC connector.
