The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Healthcare System, NCO 10, plans to issue a sole source delivery order under FAR Part 8 to purchase an additional REMCO Storage Unit for the VA Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. This procurement includes certain open market items such as software controlling licenses, 2D barcode scanners, wireless label packages, installation, training, systems integration, and associated travel and living expenses. The acquisition will be made through the GSA contract with Hanel Storage Systems, L.P., the current vendor whose existing Rotomat storage system and software are already in use by the VA. The integration requirement and compatibility with the existing system restrict the purchase exclusively to this vendor, justifying the sole source approach. The procurement, categorized under NAICS code 337214, will be executed as a firm fixed price delivery order without option years. The Government emphasizes that only the identified vendor can fulfill the specified needs, reinforcing the sole source intent. This notice serves as an opportunity for potential challengers to provide any compelling rationale supporting competitive acquisition, with responses due by September 2, 2022. The contracting officer overseeing this acquisition is Kellie Konopinski, who can be contacted for further inquiries. The notice is not a solicitation and does not offer a request for proposals or bids.
