The U.S. Army RDECOM Contracting Center, Natick Contracting Division, on behalf of USSOCOM, intends to award a firm fixed price purchase order on a sole source basis to SSK Military Industries for the procurement of Automatic Activation Devices (AADs) used in Personnel Parachute Systems. These devices, specifically the Military CYPRES-2 AAD, are manufactured by Airtec GmbH and exclusively distributed in the United States by SSK Military Industries. The AADs are an essential safety component required for the Military Javelin series parachute systems and are being acquired to support a combat evaluation of alternative sizes for approved legacy personnel parachute systems. Due to the unique proprietary nature of the CYPRES-2 AAD and its sole authorization for use with the military's parachute systems, no market research was conducted, as it is the only viable product to meet the operational requirements. The urgent need to deploy a tactical parachute system with enhanced capabilities drives this sole source acquisition to ensure the immediate survivability of personnel during combat and training operations. While efforts at competition are not feasible at this time, interested parties are invited to express their capability to respond to the requirement to the contracting office before the specified deadline. The procurement is managed by the Natick Contracting Division located in Natick, Massachusetts, with Nathan Jordan serving as the point of contact.
