The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes to acquire, under single source procedures, Digital Altimeter Setting Indicator (DASI) systems, from DME Corporation, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The DASI system consists of a Sensor Translator (S/T) and Digital Display Panel (DDP). The DASI system computes and displays Altimeter Setting Indicator (ASI) for Air Traffic Controllers (ATC). The DASI measures the atmospheric pressure and converts the measured pressure value into the actual sea level pressure based on the U.S. Standard Atmosphere Table. The ASI value is transmitted by ATC to the pilots for their use in setting the altimeter in the aircraft. The requirement is for a base year and includes option provisions to renew for two additional 1-year periods, to be exercised at the sole discretion of the FAA. The FAA intends to solicit and negotiate only with DME Corporation, the original manufacturer, in accordance with AMS Policy 3.2.2.4.
