AI Contract Overview

The VA Boston Healthcare System intends to award a sole source contract to Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. for Gold contract service level coverage on a 3T MRI and chiller system located at the Jamaica Plain campus in Boston, Massachusetts. This agreement covers all necessary parts, labor, preventive maintenance inspections, and repair services to ensure the system remains calibrated and operational. The estimated value for the base year, running from November 14, 2008, to September 30, 2009, is 144,891.01 dollars. The government is pursuing a sole source procurement under FAR 6.302-1 because Siemens is the original equipment manufacturer and the only source for proprietary parts, software, and specialized services. Because the original warranty has expired and the components are not available from other vendors, the government has determined that no other source can satisfy the agency requirements. While this is a notice of intent to sole source, interested firms had until November 7, 2008, to provide written evidence of their ability to meet the contract requirements.
