The Federal Aviation Administration is seeking to procure proprietary Modem Splitter cards and associated hardware from Sunhillo Corporation to facilitate the exchange of surveillance and flight data for Air Traffic Operations. These components are essential for processing surveillance, interfacility, and coded time source data for the ECG, which was specifically designed to operate with this hardware. The required items include 8 Port Modem Splitter Active Receptors and Adapters, Octopus Cables, DB9 RS-422 Mode Adapters, power supplies, and mounting brackets. Due to the proprietary nature of the equipment and the lack of commercial alternatives, the FAA intends to award a sole source purchase order to Sunhillo Corporation under NAICS code 334290. This procurement strategy is necessitated by the need for continuity of support and the unique technical specifications of the existing ECG software and hardware. This announcement serves as a presolicitation notice for information purposes rather than a formal request for proposals.

Aviation Research BAA 2025
Solicitation # 692M15-25-R-00004
The Aviation Research BAA 2025, solicitation number 692M15-25-R-00004, is a long-term initiative sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to support basic and applied research at the William J. Hughes Technical Center for Advanced Aerospace. Valid from December 5, 2024, through December 4, 2034, this Broad Agency Announcement seeks to advance the state-of-the-art in aerospace safety and efficiency across five primary program branches: Airport Technology R&D, Software and Systems, Structures and Propulsion, Separation Standards Analysis, and Fire Safety. The FAA encourages submissions from a diverse range of offerors, including academia, industry, and small businesses, to address evolving air transportation challenges. The solicitation utilizes a phased submission process where interested parties first submit brief white papers for specific Topics of Interest. If a white paper is deemed meritorious, the FAA may request a formal proposal consisting of a technical volume and a price/cost volume. Awards are made bilaterally based on a favorable feasibility assessment, with cost analyzed for reasonableness and realism rather than being a rated factor. While funding varies by project, rough order of magnitude estimates range from $100,000 to $1.2 million per award, with many projects anticipated to be funded annually for a period of 12 to 36 months. All offerors must maintain active registration in the System for Award Management (SAM) to be eligible for award.
