NASA Langley Research Center is seeking companies interested in licensing a firmware technology designed to mitigate single event upsets (SEUs) in radiation-tolerant field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). This technology enables on-chip correction of configuration memory, clock management, and configuration logic upsets without the need for additional external hardware, thereby reducing cost, weight, power consumption, and complexity while enhancing reliability. Developed for high-performance space-based computing, it has been tested for and will be used on NASA's Mars Science Laboratory rover. The technology is particularly suited for future satellite missions requiring radiation-tolerant, large on-board memories in both geosynchronous (GEO) and low Earth orbit (LEO) environments. Its approach includes regular refreshing of FPGA configuration memory and a scrubbing strategy that sequentially reads and corrects memory errors as they are detected. The licensing options can be exclusive or nonexclusive and can be tailored to specific fields of use. Interested parties are invited to express their interest by contacting Sean Sullivan at NASA Langley Research Center. Responses are collected by Research Triangle International on behalf of NASA and are used for market research and public awareness. Should licensing interest be confirmed, NASA will proceed with the formal licensing process; however, no procurement will directly result from this notice. This opportunity focuses on a self-scrubbing technology for reconfigurable radiation-hardened memory arrays developed to meet increasing demands for reliable, on-board data processing in space missions.

Full Description

NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA solicits interest from companiesinterested in obtaining license rights to commercialize, manufacture and market thefollowing technology. License rights may be issued on an exclusive or nonexclusive basisand may include specific fields of use. THE TECHNOLOGY: NASA Langley has developed a firmware approach to mitigating single event upsets (SEUs)in radiation-tolerant field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), including configurationmemory, clock management, and configuration logic. Since this technology can beimplemented within an FPGA, there is no need for the additional external hardwarecurrently required for SEU mitigation, thus lowering cost, weight, and power; decreasingcomplexity; and improving reliability. NASA Langley has developed the technology forhigh-performance space-based computing applications. The technology has been tested andwill be used on an instrument on NASAs Mars Science Laboratory rover, scheduled forlaunch in 2009.NASA developed the technology to meet the needs for on-board satellite data processingfor future missions. The continuing trends toward ever-increasing resolution, improveddata quality, and additional capacity for raw and/or processed data will necessitate theuse of larger on-board memories, which must be made radiation tolerant. This technologyis a firmware approach to radiation-tolerant memory, suitable for both GEO and LEOmissions.Memory cells in FPGAs are susceptible to SEUs. It is important to correct configurationmemory upset as quickly as possible. NASA has used an approach of refreshing theconfiguration memory cells at regular intervals. The configuration bit stream is storedin memory and upon power-on, the FPGA loads its configuration from memory. The memoryrefresh controller is implemented internally in the FPGA. The correction of SEUs inconfiguration logic requires initial detection of a failure in configuration logic, whichhas also been developed and incorporated as part of this technology. In addition to detecting SEUs, the technology implements a scrubbing strategy where thememory contents are read sequentially and when an error is detected, the memory isupdated with correct data.To express interest in this opportunity, please respond to Sean Sullivan, ResearchTriangle International (RTI), at: NASA Langley Research Center, Strategic RelationshipsOffice (SRSO), 17 West Taylor St., Mail Stop 218, Building 1212, Room 110 Hampton,Virginia, E-mail: contact@example.gov, or phone: +1 (555) 000-0000. Please indicate thedate and title of the FBO notice and include your company and contact information.RTI is responsible for aggregating and acknowledging all responses. These responses areprovided to members of NASA Langleys Innovative Partnerships Office within the SRO forthe purpose of promoting public awareness of our technology products, and conductingpreliminary market research to determine public interest in and potential for futurelicensing opportunities. If direct licensing interest results from this posting, SRO willfollow the formal licensing process of posting in the Federal Register as required. Nofollow-on procurement is expected to result from responses to this Notice.

Enabling Technology for Future Missions
Solicitation # 9F063-20260085
The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) is soliciting proposals under the Space Technology Development Program (STDP) to develop and advance one to three priority technologies intended to reduce technical uncertainties for future Canadian space missions. This fixed-price procurement focuses on increasing Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) in accordance with CSA-ST-GDL-0001 Revision A guidelines. The identified priority technologies include a lightweight athermal reflecting telescope for CubeSats, readout electronics for large mosaic focal plane arrays, and technologies for the Ground Snow Mass Mission, with maximum funding per contract ranging from 1 million to 2 million Canadian dollars. The project is expected to span 16 months, structured around five key milestones: a kick-off meeting, preliminary design review, detailed design review and work authorization meeting, test readiness review, and a final review meeting. Selection is based on the highest combined rating of technical merit (60%) and price (40%), with additional points available for Indigenous considerations. The contract requires strict adherence to security protocols, including Protected B and Reliability Status, and mandates the use of the Information Sharing with External Partners portal for sensitive data transfers. Performance is subject to rigorous inspection and acceptance processes for both hardware and software, including a 90-day warranty period for custom software.

Expression of interest: Small-satellite missions sandpit
Solicitation # 206083
UK Research and Innovation is seeking expressions of interest for a small-satellite missions sandpit designed to bring together approximately 30 researchers and innovators from diverse disciplines. The goal is to co-develop ambitious, challenge-led small-satellite mission concepts focusing on innovative sensors, data streams, and cross-sector enabling technologies to enhance sovereign capability, address national security and societal challenges, and support economic growth. The activity consists of six sessions held between January 26 and February 11, 2027, utilizing a combination of online sessions and a two-day residential event. Total program funding is listed at 1,870,000, with the objective of developing concepts for pump-priming research grants in 2027/2028. Selection of participants is based on core assessment questions focusing on skills and potential contributions rather than track record, with additional consideration given to geographic diversity across all UK regions. Applicants must apply through an Expression of Interest stage, and invited applicants will use the Resume for Research and Innovation format. Mandatory attendance at all sessions is required, with travel and subsistence costs reimbursed and accommodation provided for overnight stays. The program is managed by the UKRI Space Programme team, with the response deadline for the solicitation set for November 25, 2026.

Commercial Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Destination Contract (CLDC) Technical Library
Solicitation # 80JSC025_CLDC_TECH_LIBRARY
The Commercial Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Destination Contract (CLDC) Technical Library, managed by the NASA Johnson Space Center, serves as a centralized repository of technical standards, plans, and guidelines for potential offerors. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to support the development of private LEO space destinations and supporting systems as NASA prepares for the retirement of the International Space Station. The library provides a series of data drops containing both controlled and uncontrolled technical data, including standards for docking systems, payload interfaces, and crew health operations. It also outlines specific NASA center capabilities and high-value engineering products available to industry partners to reduce technical and schedule risks. It is important to note that this activity is a special notice and does not constitute a Request for Proposals, Invitation for Bid, or Request for Quotation. No proposals are to be submitted in response to this notice, and it does not represent a commitment by the government to enter into a contract. Access to export-controlled content requires the submission of a specific request form and compliance with U.S. export regulations, including the implementation of Technology Transfer Control Plans and Non-Disclosure Agreements for foreign nationals. The library is intended to keep industry updated on current NASA technical standards in anticipation of future FAR-based acquisitions.
