Solicitation H92222-07-R-0012, issued by the Department of Defense through HQ USSOCOM, focuses on the research, analysis, and development of image intensified lightweight lenses. The primary objective of this effort is to conduct a feasibility analysis of materials to reduce the overall weight of night vision goggles, specifically targeting the AN/PVS-7 and AN/PVS-14 models. The project requires the development of a trade-off matrix and a technical analysis of materials rather than an evaluation of existing equipment, with an estimated performance duration of eight months. The contract includes specific data requirements, mandating the submission of monthly progress reports and a final technical report delivered electronically via Standard Form 298. Managed by the office in Tampa, Florida, the procurement process emphasized a preference for cost-type contracts to support the research and development goals. Key administrative oversight was provided by contracting officers Frederick G. Marsh and Roxanne A. Gerry.
