AI Contract Overview

The Air Force Research Laboratory, Sensors Directorate, issued a Request For Information (RFI) to gather insights on the availability, capabilities, pricing, and delivery of synthetic aperture radars suited for medium to high altitude Remotely Piloted Aircraft and Unmanned Air Vehicle missions. This RFI serves as a market research tool rather than a solicitation for competitive proposals, meaning that responses do not create any binding contractual obligations and respondents will not be compensated unless costs are allowable under other contracts. The goal is to enhance the agency’s understanding of current technologies and vendor capabilities to assist in future planning and research and development efforts. Interested parties are directed to review detailed requirements and background information available through documents provided on the Federal Business Opportunities website. The technical inquiries can be directed to Christopher A. Bassett at AFRL/SNRR, while contracting questions should be addressed to Nancy F.I. Stormer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. The solicitation was posted in October 2004 under the Department of Defense at the USAF Air Force Materiel Command, emphasizing research and development within physical, engineering, and life sciences disciplines relevant to synthetic aperture radar technologies for unmanned aerial platforms.

The Air Force Research Laboratory, Sensors Directorate (AFRL/SN) solicits responses to this Request For Information (RFI), as defined in FAR 15.201(e), to determine if sources capable of satisfying the agency's requirements exist and to obtain information about pricing, delivery, other market information or capabilities for planning purposes. This RFI is not a request for competitive proposals. Therefore, responses to this notice are not considered offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Companies that respond will not be paid for the information submitted except as an allowable cost under other contracts as provided in FAR 31.205-18, - Bid and Proposal Costs. The Air Force is interested in gaining additional knowledge on the current state of synthetic aperture radars that could meet the medium-high altitude Remotely Piloted Aircraft/Unmanned Air Vehicle (RPA/UAV) mission. Interested offerors may view and/or download the details of the RFI by clicking on the links to the attached RFI SAR.doc and the RPA/UAV SAR IRD.ppt files at the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOps) homepage at http://www.fbo.gov. AFRL Enterprise CSO: Centralized Open Spiral
Solicitation # FA865226SC005
Solicitation FA865226SC005 is a Centralized, Open Two-Step Spiral issued by the Air Force Research Laboratory under the Defense Commercial Solutions Opening (CSO) framework in accordance with R-DFARS 212.70. The government is seeking Commercial Solutions Brief (CSB) submissions for innovative solutions ranging from advanced component development to operational systems development, specifically limited to Foundational Technologies (AFRL/RE). This procurement follows a two-step process where only CSB submissions are currently requested; offerors must be categorized as Selectable during the Step One evaluation to be invited to Step Two, which involves the submission of a Commercial Solutions Proposal (CSP). The deadline for Step One CSB submissions is 5:00 PM Eastern on April 30, 2027. Submissions must align with the Areas of Interest identified in Attachment 1 of the AFRL Enterprise CSO and follow the formatting instructions in Section 7 and Attachment 2 of the main announcement.
