The Department of Defense, through the DoD RF Module Technology Working Group and the Joint Defense Manufacturing Technology Panel under the Next-Generation Manufacturing Technology Program, is conducting market research to develop a Strategic Investment Plan for RF Modules. This effort focuses on advancing RF Module technologies including packaging, materials, components, and solutions aimed at enhancing performance and affordability for military applications such as communications, electronic warfare, and radar. Interested U.S. industry, academic, and government organizations are invited to express their interest by submitting a questionnaire that details their involvement with RF Module technologies, key technical challenges, and future technology directions. The initiative seeks to gather broad input to shape a collaborative research and development strategy but does not constitute a request for proposals or offer compensation for submitted information. A key event of this initiative is a three-day strategic planning workshop scheduled for May 16-18, 2006, in Knoxville, Tennessee, which will form the foundation for the RF Module Strategic Investment Plan and subsequent research projects. Participation in this workshop is by invitation only to ensure balanced representation from industry and government. Responses must be submitted by April 25, 2006, via email, referencing the RFI number N00164-06-R-6676, with an emphasis on providing nonproprietary information to facilitate comprehensive planning. All communications and inquiries are directed to Darrell James at the Navy’s NSWC Crane office. This solicitation aims to engage stakeholders in identifying technical barriers, potential collaboration areas, and promising RF Module technologies relevant to current and future DoD systems.

This Request for Information (RFI) is the initiation of market research under Part 10 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and is not a Request for Proposals (RFP). The Government does not intend to pay for any information furnished pursuant to this RFI. The DoD RF Module Technology Working Group (TWG) and the Joint Defense Manufacturing Technology Panel (JDMTP) working through the Next-Generation Manufacturing Technology (NGMTI) Program, is soliciting expressions of interest from U.S. industry, academic organizations, and other government agencies regarding the creation of a Strategic Investment Plan for RF Modules. The topic encompasses RF Module technologies including Packaging/Assembly, Materials, Components, and other potential solutions to expand capabilities of Amplifiers, Power Amplifiers, MPMs, T/R Modules, and other devices to meet the challenges of providing affordable RF Modules for military uses such as Communications, Electronic Warfare (EW), Radar, and other applications. An initial 3-day strategic planning workshop is scheduled for May 16 to May 18, 2006 in Knoxville, TN. This workshop will develop the general content of the RF Module Strategic Investment Plan and establish a foundation for further planning for potential R&D projects. Due to space constraints and the need to ensure a balance of industry and government perspectives, participation in the workshop is by invitation only. If you are interested in attending this workshop, please complete the short information questionnaire posted below and return it together with your firm's qualifications via email by 25 April to Darrell James at contact@example.gov . Questionnaire To assist us in selecting the appropriate team to develop the RF Module Strategic Investment Plan, we are asking interested parties to respond to the following questionnaire. Is your company or organization currently researching, developing or producing RF Modules for a DoD system or program? If so, please identify and briefly describe your program(s) or application(s): In your opinion, what technical issues present the greatest barrier to providing RF Modules to current and future DoD Systems? What technical topics might benefit most from creation of a strategic plan to guide collaborative, industry/government research and development of RF Modules technologies? What new or future RF Module technologies should the DoD pursue? What technical area(s) do you represent? Please provide any roadmaps - to share in advance - with your submittal of this questionnaire. Please provide your contact information: Name Company Address email phone Responses to this RFI that indicate that the information therein is proprietary or represents confidential business information will be received and held in confidence for U.S. Government use only. However, the DoD RF Module TWG's and the JDMTP's intent is to develop a broadly shared strategic plan from the aggregate of the information provided from industry as a whole, and it is desired that all responses be nonproprietary. All responses must reference RFI no.
