Addams Elementary School Modernization Plus

The Addams Elementary School Modernization Plus project, managed by the Long Beach Unified School District, involves extensive renovations to existing buildings at 15320 Pine Street, Long Beach, California. The scope of work focuses on minor alterations, repairs, and upgrades to ensure health, safety, and code compliance in alignment with the District's 2022 Facility Master Plan and Measure-Q requirements. Key improvements include the installation of HVAC systems in all classrooms, offices, and support spaces such as the auditorium, cafeteria, and kitchen. The project also encompasses accessibility upgrades to parking, restrooms, and paths of travel, utility system enhancements to support new HVAC units, and hardware upgrades including LED lighting and Extron audio-visual systems. Additional work includes roofing repairs, door replacements, campus-wide fire alarm upgrades, seismic upgrades per DSA standards, and building finish improvements such as new flooring, ceilings, and painting. The project also requires campus-wide tactile signage, building and room re-numbering, and upgrades to existing portable buildings. Site work will involve the demolition and grading of up to 10,000 square feet of pavement, followed by paving and architectural coatings. Construction is scheduled to take place over approximately 305 days, spanning from June 2027 to August 2028. Standard working hours are set for Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with as-needed Saturday work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The project has been granted a Notice of Exemption from further environmental review under CEQA Classes 1, 2, and 14, as it involves upgrades to existing facilities without expanding capacity or changing site use.
