This contract pertains to the construction of the Briggs Boardwalk at the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, managed by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The project, with a bid range between $500,000 and $1,500,000, requires bidders to include signed acknowledgment of an addendum, which clarifies several technical and procedural details. Key points include the permissible use of mechanical equipment for vegetation clearance, the necessity of pulling all relevant building permits, and the requirement that all cleared debris be removed from the site. The contract specifies that stainless steel fasteners should be grade 316, and clarifies that ADA grab rails do not require a bottom rail, with the top rail positioned at 34 to 38 inches above the walking surface. The timeline for project commencement is contingent upon the receipt of permits and approval of safety plans, with the notice to proceed expected after these conditions are met. The contract emphasizes that only installed materials are billable, and any cost increases due to change orders, including bonding costs, must be fully documented and approved through a formal process. The contract also notes that the project is part of a solicitation issued by the Florida DEP, with a response deadline of April 2, 2025, and provides contact information for the project manager, Laurinda Micheels.
