Additional effort under contract N00174-02-C-0036

NAVSEA Indian Head Division plans to modify contract N00174-02-C-0036 with Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control to extend work focused on the development and testing of a supercavitating penetrator with a stepped nose pin. The original contract involved joint efforts between the Indian Head Division and Lockheed Martin to enhance warhead penetration into concrete, with additional benefits expected in soil and water environments. The new modification assigns Lockheed Martin the responsibility for design engineering, manufacturing test hardware, and supporting test execution for a full-size biological assessment of the energetic fill, as directed by the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Advanced Systems and Concepts. This modification reflects continued collaboration aimed at advancing weapon technology through rigorous biological testing and engineering support. The work is based out of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division in Maryland and is part of the Department of Defense's ongoing commitment to enhancing defense capabilities through specialized research and development efforts.
