The Department of Veterans Affairs, through the Commodities and Services Acquisition Service, has established a sole-source, firm-fixed-price indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract with Advanced Bionics for the procurement of Cochlear Implants, Auditory Osseointegrated Implants, and related OEM customized parts and accessories. This contract supports medical facilities across the United States and its territories, serving Veterans and beneficiaries through the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense, and Indian Health Services. The primary objectives are to ensure the availability of high-quality, prescription auditory systems at discounted commercial rates while improving operational efficiency via the Denver Logistics Service Remote Order Entry System. The agreement carries an estimated total value not to exceed 148 million dollars over a ten-year performance period, consisting of a one-year base period and nine one-year option periods. The sole-source award is justified by the proprietary nature of the implant systems and the necessity of using original equipment manufacturer components to maintain device integrity and warranties. Managed by the Denver Logistics Service, the contract emphasizes a performance-based partnership and standardized ordering processes to provide consistent nationwide access to critical auditory healthcare technology.
