The Air Force Research Laboratory at Eglin Air Force Base is conducting a market research effort through a Sources Sought and Request for Information notice to identify industry capabilities for a 137-actuator Micro-Electromechanical Systems (MEMS) Deformable Mirror intended for use in hypersonic electro-optical/infrared sensing research at the KHILS Laboratory. This device must feature a continuous membrane design with a controllable aperture between 4mm and 8mm, capable of precise wavefront control with a 5.5µm actuator stroke, response times of 450/650 microseconds, less than 23% inter-actuator coupling, no hysteresis, sub-nanometer average step size, and a surface figure under 20nm RMS. The mirror must transmit over 95% of light across the 1.5 to 5.0µm infrared band, operate with a 2kHz driver frame rate and 14-bit resolution, and be calibrated and driven in an open-loop fashion. It must also include a driver electronics interface certificate detailing volatile and non-volatile memory and instructions for clearing user-accessible memory. Delivery is expected within 14 weeks or less at the performance location in Goulds, Florida.
