This solicitation seeks input from individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), their families, caregivers, advocates, day program providers, ABA providers, and subject matter experts in the ASD and ABA fields. The purpose is to gather insights regarding the current state of ABA services for individuals with ASD, particularly focusing on those who age out of the school system at age 21. Currently, MassHealth covers ABA services for individuals under 21, but once they turn 21, access to these services is discontinued, creating a gap in ongoing support for adults with ASD and intellectual/developmental disabilities. The initiative aims to inform potential policy or program adjustments to better serve this population as they transition into adulthood. The request for information (RFI) was issued by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services, with a response deadline of April 19, 2024. The solicitation is part of a broader effort to understand the needs and challenges faced by this demographic, with the goal of improving access and continuity of ABA services beyond the current age limit. Interested parties can contact Amy Butcher via email or phone for further details. The project emphasizes collaborative input from a diverse range of stakeholders to shape future service delivery models for individuals with ASD aging out of the school system.
