The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) intends to negotiate a contract on a single source basis to Quarterwave Corporation, Rohnert Park, CA, for the acquisition of Power Supply Modulators (PSM) model 1764 for the Airport Surface Detection Equipment (ASDE)-3 radar system. The Model 1764 PSM is a custom unit originally designed by Quarterwave Corporation as part of the ASDE-3 system. The PSM is a critical part necessary to maintain ASDE-3 facilities. The current requirement is necessary to avoid extended outages at National Airspace Systems (NAS) ASDE-3 facilities.



In accordance with the FAA Acquisition Management System Paragraph 3.2.2.4, the purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the basis of the FAA's decision to contract with a selected source via single source procedures. Quarterwave owns all proprietary data rights proprietary information necessary to conduct manufacture, repair, and test of these assets.



The proposed principle North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this effort is 335311, Power, Distribution and Specialty Transformer Manufacturing, with a Small Business Size Standard of 800.
