MUREP Space Technology Artemis Research (M-STAR)The MUREP Space Technology Artemis Research (M-STAR) initiative, led by NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement, aims to strengthen Minority Serving Institutions' (MSIs) research capabilities and infrastructure to actively contribute to NASA’s Space Technology Mission Directorate objectives. With an available appropriated budget of $12 million over two years, NASA anticipates selecting approximately 12 awards, each valued around $1 million, with awards expected to be issued in October 2026. Funding is subject to the availability of appropriations, satisfactory performance, and NASA's ongoing evaluation, with obligations generally limited to the initial budget period unless further funds are secured. The program emphasizes expanding advanced research, increasing competitive participation in funding opportunities, and supporting MSIs in developing innovative technologies for lunar, Martian, and deep space exploration. The contract outlines clear recipient responsibilities, including adherence to funding restrictions, environmental compliance, and reporting requirements. It also provides guidance on evaluation plans and stresses that the publication of the solicitation does not guarantee award issuance beyond currently appropriated levels. The M-STAR opportunity aligns with NASA’s broader goals by fostering MSI engagement in space technology research, thereby enhancing institutional research capacity and contributing to the agency’s exploration missions while promoting diversity and inclusion within the STEM field.

Lunar Payload Design ChallengeThe U.S. Department of State's U.S. Mission to the UAE is seeking proposals to implement the Lunar Payload Design Challenge, a collaborative program designed to bring together graduate students from the United States and the UAE to develop advanced technologies for lunar missions. This initiative aims to foster U.S.-UAE cooperation in space innovation by engaging at least 30 graduate students (evenly split between the two countries) in hands-on, team-based design challenges focused on payload and mission support concepts aligned with lunar exploration priorities. The program emphasizes real-world application, partnership building among universities, industry, and research institutions, and sustained collaboration beyond initial activities, advancing U.S. leadership in space technology and supporting diplomatic goals. The project targets STEM graduate students in aerospace engineering and related fields from institutions with established space programs and encourages proposals that demonstrate the capability to develop tangible hardware or payload concepts relevant to future lunar missions. Applicants must submit a detailed proposal including project goals, methodologies, schedules, key personnel, and partnerships by July 15, 2026. The program underlines the importance of experiential learning, ongoing engagement, and potential pathways toward commercialization or integration into actual missions, aligning closely with U.S. foreign policy priorities to enhance economic prosperity and strategic interests through innovation and international collaboration.

NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) is issuing a sources-sought notice for the Asteroids and Dust Subnode under the Planetary Data System (PDS), which ensures the long-term preservation and usability of NASA planetary science data while complying with federal cybersecurity requirements. This notice is intended to gather information from interested parties, including all categories of small businesses and minority-serving institutions, to assess industry capabilities and to inform acquisition planning. It is not a request for proposal and does not commit the government to any contractual obligation, but serves as an opportunity for potential vendors to provide input on subcontracting goals, participation barriers, and strategies for increasing small business involvement. Interested respondents are encouraged to submit capability statements and suggest realistic small business subcontracting and participation goals, identify possible challenges such as certification or security requirements, and propose methods like breaking down requirements or teaming arrangements to enhance small business participation. NASA plans to use this feedback to finalize the upcoming solicitation and its acquisition strategy. Responses must be submitted electronically by June 12, 2026, and participants may opt out of being listed publicly to foster teaming. All solicitation documents, if issued, will be posted on Sam.gov, and it is the responsibility of interested parties to monitor the site for updates. Key contacts for this notice are Shanita Boykin and Candis Edwards at NASA GSFC.

THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. NO PROPOSALS ARE TO BE SUBMITTED IN RESPONSE TO THIS NOTICE.

This notice is issued by the NASA/GSFC to post a draft Statement of Work to solicit responses from interested parties. This document is for information and planning purposes and to allow industry the opportunity to verify reasonableness and feasibility of the requirement, as well as promote competition.

Planetary Data System (PDS) as a system of Discipline Nodes ensures the long-term secure preservation of NASA planetary science data and maintains its usability. Discipline Node work includes performing the function of a Federal information system including compliance with Federal cybersecurity laws (e.g., FISMA,  FITARA) and related NASA cybersecurity directives and requirements.

The PDS system of Discipline Nodes engages in standards development and supports the NASA planetary community in the application and implementation of standards that ensure better access, interoperability, and usability of mission and instrument observations, models, software, and ancillary NASA planetary science data.

NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) hereby soliciting information from potential sources for the Asteroids and Dust Subnode.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) GSFC is seeking capability statements from all interested parties, including all socioeconomic categories of Small Businesses (SB) and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU)/Minority Institutions (MI) for the purposes of determining the appropriate level of competition and/or small business subcontracting goals for the Asteroids and Dust Subnode. Vendors are encouraged to demonstrate capabilities as a prime, subcontractor and/or teaming partner. The Government reserves the right to consider a Small Business, Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB), HUBZone, Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB), Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, and Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) set-aside based on responses received.

Respondents are requested to provide informed input on realistic and appropriate SB subcontracting and/or participation goals for the specific requirement.  This type of feedback supports NASA’s market research and helps ensure the acquisition strategy is aligned with actual industry capability. Industry feedback is requested for:

1. SB Subcontracting goals;

2 Barriers that may limit SB participation, such as certifications, unique technical requirements, security needs, specialized tools, or high-risk performance areas and/or

3. Strategies to increase SB participation, including:

• Breaking requirements into smaller components

• Identifying areas appropriate for subcontracting

• Considering teaming or mentor protégé approaches

This RFI is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for the information submitted in response. The Government may not respond to questions/concerns submitted. The Government will use the information to finalize the RFP as necessary.
