AT&T Shasta 1C (T-17863) Last Mile Infrastructure Project

The AT&T Shasta 1C project, managed under the California Public Utilities Commission, involves the deployment of approximately 28 miles of new fiber optic infrastructure in Shasta County, primarily serving the communities of Castella and Lakehead along Interstate 5. About 25 miles of the fiber will be installed aerially, while the remaining 3 miles will be buried using directional boring or micro trenching techniques along existing roadways in previously disturbed ground to minimize environmental and community disruption. The project is part of a broader effort to expand broadband connectivity in underserved rural areas and is being executed under regulatory oversight by the state’s public utilities commission.
