Full Description

The preliminary objective is to provide assurance that the CFIA’s Establishment-based Risk Assessment (ERA) Food Model is allocating and prioritizing CFIA inspection resources according to food safety risk. The scope includes how the CFIA’s ERA Food Model supports the risk assessment of federally regulated domestic food establishments and licensed food importers in a scientific and transparent manner, the digital integration of risk information into the model as well as the national sample collection plan and inspection activities. The scope excludes CFIA’s ERA models used for risk assessments in other food sectors, such as rendering, feed, and pre-harvest operations. Also, the audit will not look at CFIA’s Importer Risk Assessment (IRA) model, which does not evaluate establishments with domestic activities.
