The Department of Defense, through the Nawc Training Systems Division, has issued an award notice for annual maintenance licenses for CAVE operations software, specifically covering MetaVR, Scalable, and Battlespace Simulations Inc. Modern Air Combat Environment. This procurement, identified by solicitation number N6134021P0007, is valued at an estimated 133,000.00 dollars and provides essential support for NAWDC, EWGLANT, EWTGPAC, and EDM. Battlespace Simulations Inc. Market research revealed the BSI Modern Air Combat Environment maintenance license is only available from one manufacture, BSI. No other contractor can provide maintenance to this software and a total system re-design of the CAVE devices would be required to replace the BSIModern Air Combat Environment SAF product and interface re-design would be required for the replacement of META-VR and Scalable solutions. Additionally, BSI has agreements with MetaVR and Scalable, which allows them to provide support on the entirety of the CAVE system software. There is no other singular source capable of performing this work
